My Background
My family has lived in Mendham for 12 years, coming over from Morristown, where we were since 2000. I've had one child go through MTSD and is now at WMMHS, and another that is currently in MTMS.
I begain my professional career as an officer in the US Army, serving overseas for two years before returning to the US. I then moved into information technology consulting, where I now focus on cost optimization, return on investment analysis, and appropriate us of technologies such as AI.
Board of Education Experience
I have 3.5 years experience serving on the MTSD Board of Education. I was elected to a 3 year term in 2017, and then interviewed for and was appointed to an interim role in 2021 when one of the Board members resigned.
The 2018 - 2020 term on the Board was a time of significant transformation for the District, as we worked through creative financial options to optimize usage and revendue from the transportation department. Mendham Township Elementary School (MTES) was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2019, joining the Middle School, which had earned that designation in 2014.
The greatest challenge that the District and Board faced during my time was Covid. As the Board representative to the District's Covid task force, and as the Chair of the Policy Committee I worked throughout the months leading up to the District's September re-opening, establishing safety and working standards for our techers, staff, and students. This allowed our kids to safely return to a classroom environment, even while other school districts in NJ continued in remote and hybrid models.
Service to the Mendham Township Community
Outside of the School Board I have stayed active in other community volunteer activities. For the past 3 years I have been very active in Mendham Cub Scout Pack 3. I volunteered in several parallel roles in the Pack - I was the Assistant Cubmaster, the coordinator of the annual Model Rocket Launch, the webmaster, and as an outdoor safety certified adult I accompanied the pack on many of their outdoor overnight adventures.

What is an unopposed election mean?
The Mendham Township School Board has seven elected members, each to a three year term, with staggered terms. This year there are two open School Board spots up for election. Two of us filed to tun for the positions, so on your ballot you can vote for two of us for the two positions.
Can I mail in my vote by mail ballot?
Of course, and I have personally done this in the past. If there is any uncertaintly around delivery of the ballot back to the county then I recommend the drop boxes - they are super-convenient and reliable.
What are your priorities for the School Board?
I have a lot of perspective and context over significant policies, decisions, and even overall strategy that the Board set between 2018 and 2021. I feel the value of my contributions will be to provide that context, matched up with the experience of the team that has served on the Board for the past couple years. This balance will position the Board well in making the best decisions for the District and the Community for years to come.
